Harishchandra Gadh through nalichi vat ----- walking through sky

By - Shridhar

Hey guys I am back with my next and best experience of trekking. After reading this blog you may call it extreame trekking. This time it was H'Gad.

Our path was like this ---> pune -- ale phata -- malshej ghat -- savrne village -- bailpada --- nalichi vat ---- H'gad (ganesh guha) -- tolar khind --- khireshwar village --- pune.

It took our 110% to complete. Walking almost 12 kms , climbing 6 patches with ropes, finding caves on 4000ft at 8pm, spending whole night on open few feet near to 3000 straight fall of konkan kada in around 60kmph wind and rain, joy of finding the caves next morning, eating whatever coming to our way, returning back to with all slippery slope, the journey to and fro and full danga masti in between. This is short summary of this trek.

The views were so amazing that in total of way of 12kms around 3000 pictures were taken. Every view we got made an attempt to cease us. The power of nature bent us throughout the night. When rocks were falling on us , our hands were slipping of the ropes and we were shivering with cold we were determined to complete it and enjoy every moment of it. That's why we all were special. No one was panicking in frustrating moments.

We left pune and reached Savarne village at about 3am most of the songs and few hindi ads were sung by us. Some of them include Nirma ad, Amul doodh and all favourite Lifeboy soap. After half an hour sleep we went for Bailpada vilage. There we stopped for tea. After that it was 12 hours long trek from nalichi vat. The scenery from that point made us cease at each stage and pick out the camera. After few hours everybody used to ask how much time remaining and few hours
was the answer.

When we reached nalichi vat now it was time for professional and patient trekking. Very small possibility of mistake, rockfalls made it difficult. Dhawal was our lead climber. Aditya was helping him. Me and dhanno was at the end to take care of all and leaving our group to 20 each time. ;) With each climb we were getting inch closer and tired. But the nature was so good that no big rain hit our plan. When we were at last climb unfortunately the wind and rain started heavily which caused us some delay to reach top.

With 12hours trek at 8pm we reached top of H'gad. We hardly could see anything far from few feet. Even with brightest torch finding the way to Ganesh cave was very difficult. Even the way for it was close to konkan kada which is 3000ft deep valley. So wind reaching to 60-70 kph made it impossible. Still dhanno and adi tried to find the way to it. But we failed. So now it was test of the character now. Just sitting near konkan kada on open , at around 4000ft with heavy wind and rainfall. The worst night spent by most of us. It remembered me my previous worst trek where we spent similar night. We felt 1000 years have passed when it was about 7am.

Dhawal , Adi and Dhanno's experience let us through that worst night. On the next day everybody was aching with every part of body. Me too. But nobody showed a hint of it. Then we found out the way to the caves. Due to popularity of H'gad all caves were full. Finally we get enough place to get fresh, dry, relax and cook our Maggy and soups. Within 5 mins many were in sleeping mode. Dhawal our head chef cooked maggy and soups. All mix vegetable soup was delicious. Aunty and bhagubai helped us cutting onions and tomatoes. After that we took coffee and we started our return journey to Khireshwar village. Where our driver was waiting for us. After eating a lot everybody forgot last night. :)

On the way back everybody was very fast so we reached the village early at 5pm. kanadapohe and tea was waiting for us. We all were waiting for such treat. Then we returned back with our bus to pune at 9pm.

One most uncommon thing I found out was nobody .. nobody complained about difficulty of the trek, The night we spent, The jokes made by us, my continuous eating habit ;). So two days were very event full. Giving us new and fantastic memories of lifetime. I thank all Dhawal
(seeeeeeee),Adi,Dhanno,Bhagubai,Rujuta,VJ,VIKI,Surdas,Seedless and everyone for doing it with spirit of trekker and making it a success.

Thanks for reading so patiently ;)
Will Meet you soon with next trek.

River rafting -- At kundalika River

River rafting -- At kundalika River

It was all Green, WaiT, FresH, Rainy, CloudY and spectacular from Chandani Chauk to Our river rafting site and back.

This time it was river rafting at kundalika river. And in just start of monsoon. But we experienced complete monsoon welcome from nature.Stating who is the superior.

We left Chandani Chauk by 11pm..to go to kundalika river through tamhani ghat and vile village.tamhani ghat was awesome last time through open tempo safari and this time in night it was scary, raining and lonely.

When we reached the camp site it was 2.30 am.We sent all participants into respective tents and we all instructors went into other one.It was just when we rest our back the rain started and lasted till next morning. It was awesome experience spending whole night in tent with whole lot of roaring noise of rain around you.But our tents were so beautifully placed that no water hint came in.We only wake up next morning by one of our instructors.

The feeling was like we were stuck to our bed :) our back were not ready to stand. But we wake up and went through the work of camp. All participants were happy with the surroundings. Full coconut trees , below tents.. chai - poha in morning made them feel of heaven. View of kundalika river on left and canal from dam on right was amazing.

Water depth was about 2-5 feet everywhere and participants were asking where to raft. At 10 am siren banged from dam. And suddenly tsunami in the canal came with about 40-kmph (its true...).It was giving memories of tsunami before. The force was scary for us but for rafters it was very good. And in about 10 minutes water level rose to 15-20 feet everywhere. With a great flow participants started rafting. It took them 3 hours to cover 12km patch including Rajdhani express patches and some steady flows.

There was Buttermilk , Watermellons and Gavathi Mangoes to serve their efforts of rafting. What a treat!!!!!!!!!. When they were rafting we were fixing ropes , teasing each other ( eating was a continuous process for me) and swimming in gr8 flow of dam water. When participants came we served them delicious lunch. They all were drowned completely by exercise they got from rafting. All of them were dreaming eat - sleep pattern. And thanks what we gave them.

There were also arrangements for Volleyball , FreezBees, rings and footballs.Burma bridge , parallel ropes were there. Ladder climbing was special for many of them.It was very tough for many and piece of cake for others. We were used to shake the ropes which make them scream humorously.

After all that participants were leaving for their respective destinations and we were waiting eagerly for evening siren to jump in the dam flow...At around 7pm siren blow and we were ready with life jackets to stream into the flow. And man the scene was awesome.Full rain .. cold water .. and life jackets.. with gr8 hot dinner waiting for us.... what a way to spend weekend... Volleyball in rain was very tough as everyone was dying actually to get the points .. for everyone it was prestigious..

These are my some of fabulous years in 22 years life. Enjoying the mature thorough....
Hope you like my trek writings...
See ya in next one..
Till then..

Thanks and regards

What trekking taught me..

hi ...

I am Shridhar Purandare one of the million trekkers.I live in pune.Pune's outskirts are having many of the best trekking spots in India. So I proud and thank God for placing in Pune. You may wonder what special I am writing here.Nothing special I am gonna write whatever I have learn from trekking in past year.

From last year I started trekking and by experiences I got from many treks help me to do better in my life. And this made me think about how I learned those things. So now I am gonna share it with you.

My first trek was of Nanheghat rapelling. It was a night trek.I was fully prepared as it was rainy season.Jeans, raincoat, mobile, torch etc etc.I was felling like profesional. When we stated or trek at 2am I was already in deep trouble. As raincote and jean was making me tiresome after every few steps. I was getting first lesson. Do carry what is needed. When we started to walk further it was steap inclinations full of rocky path. Now with all cloths on I was parted from my frnds. Now I was with torch and 1 litre of water. It was all dark.I was frustrated with weight of my cloths.I was tired and thrusty.Water was finishing. It was time for next lesson.
Do not get frustrated in critical conditions. Never lose your thought process. Then I removed raincote and jean , filled them into my sack. Now I was feeling pritty fresh and lighter. In this process I lost my torch. Then I tried to find it out in light of my mobile. And luckily I got it.Finally with frnds gone way ahead I started walking .With some water in and light feeling I covered all distance and reached the spot just 15mins after my frnds.

Now it was time for rapelling ( going down in valley with help of rope).I was doing it first time and that too in my first trek.Same was the conditions with many of my frnds. We all decided not to do it. As hanging 1000ft above the vally is not a joke. With wind flowing 40kmph its herculine task. Then I thought driving in pune is as dengerous as rapelling :). When its either to do or not to do I prefer first as it may your last chance to do it in your whole life .So we all decide to do it.

Man that was one of finest experiences I had uptil that time( now i can say that :)) .When you see nature mother from her inside she is beautiful. From that time on I decide to do a lot of trekking regularlly as it makes me relaxed ,fresh for day to day life. It makes me pass some quality time with frnds, nature mother and with me .

So that was my first experience trekking in Sahyadri.Hope you find it worth enjoying by yourself.Expecting your such experiences and comments.

Regards

Shrihdar
